As a first time buyer, finding a decent surveyor who does a "proper job" is quite a daunting process. Right from the start I was reassured by Charterhouse's professionalism and how they clearly explained and outlined the process. I've ended up using Charterhouse twice, on one occasion where the detailed and thorough report made me realise that it was too big of a project for me, and on the second occasion I was provided reassurance that there were no hidden problems. The report contained a thorough appraisal of the property with a clear list of work needed to bring it up to standard, with lots of information and photographs which helped me quickly get quotes and budget for the required works. Would 100% recommend Dr Walsh and Mr Simpson's work and will definitely use their services again in the future.

We used Charterhouse to carry out a Level 3 survey on a property we were considering purchasing. The survey was extremely detailed, with clear photographs throughout that helped explain the findings.
After receiving the report, we had several follow-up questions, and Jake was very generous with his time, talking us through the survey and explaining the key issues in more detail.
Ultimately, the survey led us to decide not to proceed with the purchase. Looking back, that was absolutely the right decision. Without such a thorough survey, we could easily have bought the property only to discover these issues after moving in, which would have been far more costly and stressful.
We were very impressed with both the quality of the survey and the excellent follow-up support. When we find our next house we will be sure to use them again

The survey carried out by Jake was conducted extremely quickly after we’d booked, and covered a staggering amount of detail. CharterHouse Surveyors were really easy to work with and they organised a survey really quickly at a good competitive price. We had Jake complete the survey and he covered everything in great detail highlighting issues clearly whether big or small. We commissioned Charterhouse Surveyors to undertake our initial house purchase survey a couple of years ago and more recently to draw up comprehensive plans for an extension to the rear of the property.
The service was very friendly and professional with great communication, consultation and feedback throughout. This was particularly important when we requested amendments to the plans due to our changing needs. We are also appreciative of the guidance and assistance provided for the submission of the planning application.
Overall, we are very satisfied with the professional service we received and have no hesitation in recommending Charterhouse.
Honestly thrilled with CharterHouse and Jake- really helped me through with calmness and clarity when I felt out of my depth. Jake is professional and incredibly thorough, I also appreciated how available he was to contact and chat through things when needed! I could not recommend more highly!

We looked around for a surveyor who covered all grounds and from the get go, Jake and Gerard were fantastic. I could tell from the initial call that they were experts and put me at ease that I had found the right company to do the job. It felt like a big investment initially but the report, followup advice and constant communication has made it worth every penny and extremely good value for money. Jake has recently completed architectural drawings for a kitchen extension we are planning. Jake has been very informative and supportive through the design process and brought to life our ideas. Communication has been great throughout, we highly recommend.
A professional service with great communication. We had a level 3 building survey on a Grade II listed property. From initial contact through to completion of the survey and then discussing questions arising from the report, this was a very good experience. Both Gerard and Jake are excellent to deal with. I found both knowledgable and also pragmatic. They also clearly enjoy what they do and do it to a high standard. Would use again and happily recommend.

I contacted CharterHouse Surveyors & Engineers for advice, I am in the process of selling my Victorian property and the potential purchaser’s home buyers survey had thrown up a number of vague maybe, possibly, could be issues.
Communication with CharterHouse was clear and emails promptly sent. The survey was carried out by Dr Gerard Walsh. The report was clear, concise, written in non technical language with accompanying photographs.
The initial price may seem expensive however for the service I received I feel it was money well spent and would highly recommend Dr. Walsh and CharterHouse Surveyors.
Their service with explaining the survey process, contacting me before and after the survey appointment, and being willing to discuss the details within their detailed report further by arranging an appointment with them shows dedication to providing a high-quality service. I would highly recommend them to others during the house buying process.
This is our 3rd time using Charterhouse and wouldnt go anywhere else. Jake carried out a survey for us on an extensive property we were buying. We were honestly blown away by the level of detail, knowledge and advice contained in the report. The report enabled us to establish where additional checks were required, bringing our attention to additional documentation, warranties, etc, we should be requesting( stuff that's vital but beyond the remit of a solicitor). The level of information provided not only helped us to proceed with our purchase with our eyes wide open, but also to ensure we had everything we needed to be able to resell securely in the future. Jake completed an in depth level 3 survey on the property we were purchasing. The turn around was quick and the communication was excellent. He called to explain what he found, and when I asked what certain terms meant, he was able to provide me with simple explanations.
The report itself was outstanding. Our solicitor and mortgage advisor have even made note to recommend the company. We have also personally recommended the company to two other people.
